Volunteers Needed

Accounting Volunteer

Duties: Perform basic accounting and clerical duties, including maintaining spreadsheets and correspondence with vendors.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week.

Community Outreach Volunteer

Duties: Perform seminars and talks about the Center and its programs. Give safe sex lectures and distribute safe sex kits. Talk to local residents as peer-to-peer educators.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week.

Coordinator Volunteer

Duties: Recruit, engage, inform, and maintain relationships with prospective volunteers. Maintain volunteer schedule and ensure availability of volunteers to keep Center open. Communicate and ensure volunteer availability for special events and programs as needed. Act as a point of contact for the volunteers regarding Center programming and opportunities. Ensure new volunteers complete required paperwork and conduct reference checks. Update the volunteer manual as needed.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week and/or as needed.

Development/Fundraising Volunteer

Duties: Assist in developing Center presence at colleges and universities. Help develop and coordinate logistics for special events. Provide on-site support during special events (schedule permitting). Track a list of grant proposals written. Update and maintain donor list. Generate and distribute acknowledgements for event donors. Experienced grant writing as needed and major gifts officers are welcome.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week and/or as needed.

Events/Programs Volunteer

Duties: Support workshops, programs, and industry seminars, including preparation, set-up, and assisting with registration. Provide support for weekly programming as needed.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: As needed.

General Maintenance Volunteer

Duties: Sweep and mop the hallway and main room. Clean tables and chairs. Vacuum the computer room. Replace and restock toilet paper, paper towels, and computer paper. Clean water closet and toilet. Set up and take down tables and chairs for special events (schedule permitting). Empty garbage cans and replace liners. Clean windows.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week.

General Volunteering

Duties: To be determined in consultation with Volunteer Coordinator, but may range from general event support and administrative support to programming development.

Duration and Commitment: To be determined.

Graphic Design Volunteer

Duties: Design and create signage, program magazine layouts, invitations, print/Web ads, flyers and mailers for the Center and its programming. Prepare work for pre-press, review proofs, and communicate with printers. Perform multiple projects simultaneously and learn how to build production schedules and meet deadlines.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week and/or as needed.

Program Manager Volunteer

Duties: Support volunteer recruitment efforts. Conduct data analyses, including program participation trends and evaluation results. Update and revise the policy and procedure manual. Research and update the program database. Support the Center in the delivery of workshops and industry seminars, including workshop preparation and set-up, and assisting with registration. Complete additional projects and duties as determined.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week and/or as needed.

Receptionist Volunteer

Duties: Greet and welcome all visitors. Answer the telephone and take messages when appropriate, and make sure that messages are forwarded to correct receiver. Check the telephone messages and the Center’s general information email account. Ensure that flyers are current and available to visitors. Make sure that the visitor sign in sheet is available and properly filled out. Add new visitors’ contact information to the Center’s database.

Duration: Volunteer must be able to commit a full semester or 3-4 months.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week and/or as needed.
